TOP 100 SCUBA DIVING SITES

Wildlife and Diving Combinations

Southern Africa offers endless diving and safari options.

With South Africa’s 3 000 kilometres coastline extending from Cape Town in the south to Kosi Bay in the north the diving opportunities are endless.  wrecks, Southern Right Whales and Great White Sharks in the chilly waters off the Cape, to the Sardine Run off the Transkei Wild coast, to the Tiger, Sand Tiger, Bull and Hammerheads off Protea Banks, to the reefs, wrecks, Tigers and Sand Tigers off Aliwal Shoal, to the pristine tropical coral reefs off Sodwana, South African diving offers something for every diver.

Add the above to the 3 000 kilometres of Mozambique coastline from Ponta Mamoli’s warm un-touched and largely undiscovered reefs in the south, to the Manta’s, Whale Sharks and “virgin” reefs off Guinjata, to the magic of “island style” living and diving in the tropical Bazaruto Archipelago, to the magical Bassas da India, St. Lazarus Banks, Quirimbas and the Comores in the north, there is nothing on earth, and below it, to compare as a dive destination.

Unlike all other dive destination like the Maldives, The Great Barrier Reef, Indonesia, the Red Sea etc, Southern Africa requires time and travel to savour her delights. You can’t see the whole country is just one week such as you can on a diving holiday to the Red Sea, Maldives, Cayman, Bonaire etc. So, be prepared to spend time and to explore South Africa. To give you an idea: from Cape Town to Durban is the same distance as from London to Istanbul – 2 hours by Boeing. Distances between places are vast, be prepared to travel and spend time getting from dive site to dive site and from dive site to safari destination.

Add all this to the wildlife safari options and the mind really boggles. Safari’s in KwaZulu/Natal’s Hluhluwe Game Reserve. The world famous Kruger National Park. Well known lodges such as Mala Mala and Sabi Sabi in the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia.
