Mozambique has so much to offer the traveller – pristine, sandy beaches, an exquisite marine life, unique cultures and traditions and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Mozambique is a perfect place to discover - offering an ideal opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Vilanculos lies 550km from the Zimbabwean Border and 800km from the South African Border. 4 x 4 vehicles are an added advantage when driving, however there are daily flights between Johannesburg and Vilanculos. Flying time is only 2 hours 15 minutes and airport transfers can be arranged. (Smugglers is situated 8 km from the Vilanculos airport.)

Smugglers is situated in Vilanculos (opposite the dhow harbour) and offers comfortable, clean mid-range accommodation in a refreshing oasis of palm trees and lush gardens. We offer 12 rooms: 10 twin bed rooms, with shared ablutions and 2 double en-suite rooms. Each room has mosquito nets and fans. A laundry service is available and safe, secure parking is offered. Our three swimming pools (one kiddies pool) provide family entertainment and relaxing sun tanning.

Smugglers Sports Bar (open 10am till 2am daily) and Restaurant (open 8am to 9.30pm daily) is a great place to relax and unwind. Our weekly pool competitions test the skills of all levels of players. Weekly volleyball matches provide lots of fun!

Activities:

Vilanculos is a stepping-stone to the 3 main islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago: Bazaruto, Benguerra and Magaruque.

Traditional dhow trips are a definite must for the perfect Mozambique experience. (Island day or overnight trips are offered.)

- Scuba diving and snorkelling (2 mile reef is one of the best dive sites in Southern Africa).

We offer comfortable, clean, affordable accommodation - set in a lush garden oasis.

We are centrally located near the Vilankulo harbour and are a ‘stones throw’ from the sea.

Our rooms are comfortably appointed - mosquito nets and fans are provided.

Our bathrooms have an unlimited supply of hot water!

-ENSUITE ACCOMMODATION (4 BED NIGHTS AVAILABLE PER DAY)

This accommodation comprises the following:

Two double rooms, each with en-suite bathrooms.

Each room contains the following:

One variable – speed overhead fan.

Tiled floors.

A comfortable mattress and pillows.

All linen, with the exception of towels. ‘All linen’ comprises two sheets, two pillowcases, two blankets and one counterpane per bed.

TWIN ROOM

SHARED ABLUTION (STANDARD) ACCOMMODATION (20 BED NIGHTS AVAILABLE PER DAY)

This accommodation consists of ten separate rooms, each containing two built – in single beds.

Each room includes the following:

One variable – speed overhead fan.

Cupboards, offering shelf and hanging space.

Tiled floors.

A comfortable mattress and pillows.

All linen, with the exception of towels. ‘All linen’ comprises two sheets, two pillowcases, two blankets and one counterpane per bed.

Each room has access to the following:

Two communal women’s ablutions.

Two communal men’s ablutions.

Each ablution contains the following:

A shower.

A hand-basin.

A toilet.

Tiled floors.

Palmeiras Lodge B+B

Chalets (Bed and Breakfast) : 5 chalets with en-suite bathrooms with showers, 3 are free-standing and one family style (2 bedroom, both en-suite with inter-leading doors). All chalets have fans and mosquito nets.

Self-catering Back-packers : Large two bedroom (both en-suite) bungalow. Sleeps 10 people in total. Linen and bath towels provided. Includes a spacious boma area with indoor barbecue, kitchenette (equipped with basic utensils), lock-up storeroom, fridge and freezer.
